DevLIVE+ training advances digitalization in BARMM

The road to #DigitalBangsamoro is getting exceptional boost with the United Nations Development Programme’s roll out of DevLIVE+ for the Ministry of Interior and Local Goverment (MILG).

The DevLIVE+ application, managed and implemented by UNDP, is a tool to collect, organize, visualize, and manage local data and information to assess the barangays' vulnerabilities and exposures to climate change, natural hazards, and other pressing societal issues.

Twelve (12) MILG employees underwent the DevLIVE+ training, which combined lectures and hands on exercises on geotagging, enumeration survey using DevLIVE+ Mobile App, and data visualization using DevLIVE+ Data Dashboard.

Asniah Manalocon, DevLIVE+ Focal Person for LGU-Piagapo shared that “in the formulation of local youth development program (LYDP), the DevLIVE+ served as a lone instrument used as basis of all related data. In addition, Piagapo utilized DevLIVE + as basis for identification of beneficiaries for the distribution of social assistance and relief goods for PWD. As we are set to update our CLUP and CDP, the role of DevLIVE+ is deemed crucial and highly important.”

DevLIVE+ is currently used by eight (8) municipalities in Lanao del Sur ----Amai Manabilang, Balindong,Butig, Marantao, Piagapo, Saguiaran, Tamparan, and Wao.

For a first-time user of DevLIVE+, Ferdaussi Abdullah, LGOO IV of the MILG finds DevLIVE+ as “an excellent tool for LCE’s in strategizing their socio-political contracts because it gives a bird’s eye view that’s useful for planning programs and budgets. But it also gives a better view of the ground through data coming from households. It also shows infrastructures and installations, so the geotagging gives a better lay of the ground to help plot resources wisely.”

DevLIVE+ is an essential component of the MILG’s goal to digitalize the delivery of basic services in BARMM through partnership with UNDP via its flagship project called LeAPS (Localizing e-Governance for Accelerated Provision of Services). Butig and Piagapo are also the pilot sites for LeAPS digital centres.

In the Philippines, the datasets generated by DevLIVE+ are being heavily used by the Municipality of Vigan in Ilocos Sur to inform policymaking and LGU planning.
