Undersecretary Eliseo M. Rio Jr. and Assistant Secretary Ivin Ronald Alzona of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) witnessed the contract signing ceremony between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Speedcast and PHILCOMSAT to install, operate and maintain free public internet service for 3,000 remote sites all over the Philippines.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Philippines presented the Better Business, Better World: Philippines Report which highlights an economic prize worth more than US$82 billion across the Philippines by 2030, alongside large environmental and social benefits, that can be achieved through the shift to sustainable business models.
On United Nations Day, the UN in the Philippines launched the Filipino Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) video.
The report is the first of its kind in the Philippines on how businesses are aligning their core business processes, activities, and initiatives with the SDGs.
Poverty, rapid urbanization, poor land use, ecosystems decline and other risk factors will amplify the impacts of climate change.
Launched by UNDP Administrator, Achim Steiner, at UN Headquarters in July 2019, a worldwide network of 60 Accelerator Labs has been established by UNDP, with the support from the governments of Germany and Qatar, to test and scale new solutions to global challenges like climate change and rapidly rising inequality.
