Stress, Sustainability, and Development of Large Marine Ecosystems During Climate Change: Policy and Implementation

November 29, 2015

Leaders, directing the world's top financial, scientific, and technical institutions engaged in sustainable development of the oceans, came together for a Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) Conference at the John F. Kennedy Library on 16 February 2013, and a linked LME symposium at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science on 17 February 2013, in Boston. Presentations from these events have been compiled into a single volume providing a pathway of partnerships supporting the recovery and sustainable development of the world's LMEs.

Together, the chapters represent a substantial commitment of scientific partnerships and financial support by the Global Environment Facility (GEF); International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES); United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO); and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), towards the recovery and sustainable development of the world's LMEs.
